
OTTAWA, ON, July 4, 2025 – Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister, the Honourable Heath MacDonald, is scheduled to visit Alberta next week. He will be attending the Calgary Stampede and engaging with prominent figures in the agriculture and agri-food sectors. Alberta plays a vital role in Canada’s agricultural landscape, generating over a quarter of the nation’s farm revenues, making it the highest in the country.
Minister MacDonald plans to tour ranches, farms, and agri-businesses, engaging in discussions with producers and leaders in the agri-food and food processing industries. These conversations will center on strategies to maintain the sector’s strength and resilience. Key discussion points will include improving access to international markets, enhancing competitiveness through innovation, easing regulatory burdens, and increasing producers’ incomes.
