AirForceK5V5 1 Knightscope Partners with U.S. Air Force on Autonomous Security Robots

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.– January 28th, 2025– (NASDAQ:KSCP), a leader in robotics and AI for public safety, announced its selection by AFWERX for a Phase I SBIR contract to enhance Air Force Installation Security. Knightscope will research security approaches, assess existing solutions, and explore innovations to address USAF Security Force needs. This collaboration aims to use Knightscope’s Autonomous Security Robots (ASRs) to improve the safety of critical assets and personnel, tackling the Air Force’s top security challenges.

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have streamlined the SBIR program for faster adoption of innovative solutions. This award highlights the Air Force’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies like Knightscope’s ASRs, which combine machine learning, autonomous navigation, and sensor-driven anomaly detection for improved situational awareness and operational efficiency.

“Knightscope is proud to partner with the U.S. Air Force in shaping the future of national security,” said William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO, Knightscope. “This SBIR award marks the start of our expanded federal public sector focus, showcasing our technology’s potential to enhance U.S. safety and security.”

Under the Air Force contract, Knightscope will evaluate Air Force security protocols and propose ASR deployment strategies to address emerging threats. This initiative sets the stage for future Knightscope technology pilots across the U.S. military, federal law enforcement, and civilian agencies, furthering the Department of the Air Force’s mission to protect America and its critical infrastructure.

Knightscope recently unveiled an upgraded K5 Autonomous Security Robot (ASR) featuring advanced machine learning and sensor fusion. This enhanced K5 can patrol larger, more complex areas – from parking lots and logistics hubs to military bases. Improved autonomous navigation marks a new era for remotely monitored, large-scale security operations.
