SEATTLE, Feb. 28, 2025 — The over 6,900 flight attendants at Alaska Airlines, who are represented by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), have approved a new three-year contract. The agreement offers considerable improvements, such as higher wages (including compensation for boarding and a ratification bonus), more flexibility and improved scheduling, enhanced benefits, and other advantages.

This marks the eighth labor agreement ratified between Alaska Air Group and its represented employee groups in the past three years. These agreements aim to raise wages, improve quality of life, and support the company’s long-term success. Alaska Air Group is undergoing a business transformation, and flight attendants are crucial to realizing the vision of providing an exceptional travel experience.

More than 90% of Alaska‘s flight attendants cast their votes, with 95% approving the agreement.

According to CEO Ben Minicucci, one of the primary reasons guests choose to fly Alaska is the welcoming and dedicated flight attendants who deliver outstanding service and prioritize safety. He expressed satisfaction with the new contract, which recognizes their valuable contributions to Alaska, and thanked the AFA colleagues for their unwavering commitment during negotiations. The company is dedicated to making Alaska Airlines a place where top professionals can thrive, and this contract demonstrates that commitment.

Jeffrey Peterson, AFA Alaska Master Executive Council (MEC) President, stated that this agreement is a significant achievement for Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants. It acknowledges their vital role in ensuring safety and operational excellence. Furthermore, it will provide immediate and substantial improvements to their lives and establish a solid groundwork for upcoming Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations as Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines integrate.

Starting March 2, 2025, the new contract provides increased compensation (including boarding pay, a newly implemented market rate adjustment, and additional benefits), work guidelines that maintain a 10-hour and 30-minute duty day (one of the shortest in the industry, similar to Southwest), and improvements in various contract sections, including scheduling and caps on insurance premiums.

The previous contract became amendable in December 2022. In the airline sector, contracts do not have expiration dates. Once a contract is eligible for amendment, it remains in effect until a new agreement is ratified.
