Award-Winning Animation Historian to Speak at RMCAD “`

LAKEWOOD, Colo., Jan. 31, 2025 — Author, artist, and animation historian, Mindy Johnson, will present a lecture at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) at 5:30 p.m. MT on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. This in-person and online presentation will explore the challenges of uncovering historical truths using incomplete sources, focusing on the often-overlooked stories of women in animation.

A recipient of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences – Film Scholar Award, the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Educators Forum Grant, and a Family Choice Award, Johnson is a prominent figure in animation and film history. Her publications include Ink & Paint – The Women of Walt Disney’s Animation, Tinker Bell – An Evolution, and contributions to The Walt Disney Film ArchivesThe Animated Movies 1921-1968 and Marc Davis: Walt Disney’s Renaissance Man. She also served as an associate producer for the award-winning documentary Pencils vs. Pixels.
