SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 24, 2025 — The California Fire Foundation, in collaboration with Governor Gavin Newsom, has launched a new initiative, “California Rises,” focused on wildfire recovery and resilience, offering aid and grants to communities impacted by recent devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
These programs, funded by Governor Newsom’s “California Rises”, are designed to rebuild lives by addressing immediate, intermediate, and long-term community recovery needs. This initiative also encourages public participation through volunteering, collaborative efforts, and other community-based initiatives.
“This partnership demonstrates our united commitment to building stronger, safer communities,” stated Brian K. Rice, Foundation Chair. “We are thankful for Governor Newsom and his ongoing support for firefighters and the communities they serve.”
The initiative reflects a long-standing collaboration with Governor Newsom, whose administration has actively promoted innovative policies to build a more fire-safe California.
Since its inception in 2018, “California Rises” has enabled the Foundation to award grants to 22 community organizations actively working to rebuild and revitalize neighborhoods affected by significant California wildfires.
Established in 1987 by California Professional Firefighters, the California Fire Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides emotional and financial support to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters, and the communities they protect.
