SANDNES, Norway, January 15, 2025 — Desert Control AS (“DSRT” or “the Company”), a leader in soil and water conservation technology, has partnered with Oasis Date, North America’s largest date grower and processor, through its U.S. subsidiary, Desert Control Americas Inc. This collaboration will utilize Desert Control’s Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) solution across 160 acres of organic Medjool date palms at Oasis Date’s Corn Springs Ranch in California.
This 160-acre project, valued at NOK 1.5 million, expands upon a successful 13-acre pilot program launched in July 2024. The pilot showed substantial improvements in water retention, soil health, and overall palm performance. Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025, this expansion marks a significant step in scaling Desert Control’s water conservation technology across Oasis Date’s operations.
“Oasis Date exemplifies sustainable and regenerative agriculture, and we’re pleased to collaborate on this initiative,” stated Ole Kristian Sivertsen, Desert Control’s CEO. “Liquid Natural Clay will help Oasis Date conserve water, improve soil health, and boost yields, solidifying their leadership in environmentally responsible farming.”
Oasis Date manages over 5,000 acres of date farms, producing over 1 billion dates annually. As the primary supplier for Natural Delights®, the leading Medjool date brand in North America, Oasis Date is a frontrunner in sustainable agriculture, committed to regenerative organic farming. It is noteworthy that they are the world’s first and only Regenerative Organic Certified® date farm, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and fair labor practices.
“Oasis Date’s commitment to sustainability and regenerative farming aligns perfectly with our goals,” said Marty Weems, Managing Director of Desert Control Americas. “We’re privileged to partner with them, leveraging our technology to reduce operational costs and secure the long-term success of their ranch and farming operations.”
Desert Control’s LNC technology transforms sandy soils into fertile, water-retentive land, reducing irrigation needs and promoting healthy plant growth. This partnership has the potential for broader LNC adoption across Oasis Date’s operations in California and Arizona.
