JAKARTA, Indonesia, Jan. 20, 2025 — East Ventures, a leading venture capital firm in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, today announced the completion of its first GP-led secondary transaction. This transaction, spearheaded by global secondary firm Coller Capital, provided liquidity to limited partners in its East Ventures 5 L.P. fund (“EV5”). This resulted in a distributions-to-paid-in capital (“DPI”) ratio of approximately 2.0x for EV5. Building on the success of previous funds, EV5, a top-performing fund within the East Ventures platform, focuses on seed and early-stage investments in Southeast Asian tech companies. Coller Capital fully underwrote the transaction.

EV5’s portfolio includes notable Southeast Asian technology companies like IDN and waresix. Many of these companies also feature prominently in subsequent East Ventures funds. The secondary transaction reflects the firm’s ongoing confidence in its portfolio of high-performing companies. The transaction included a profit participation component, allowing EV5 to deliver strong returns to limited partners while maintaining involvement in the portfolio’s future growth. East Ventures remains a substantial and active investor in these companies, continuing to provide operational support, corporate governance guidance, and leverage its extensive Southeast Asian network.
“We are pleased to partner with Coller Capital on this efficient process that delivers attractive liquidity to our limited partners while allowing us to maintain valued partnerships with entrepreneurs and management teams. We believe our portfolio is exceptionally well-positioned to benefit from Indonesia’s robust economic growth, especially within its expanding digital economy,” said Willson Cuaca, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at East Ventures.
“We are proud to partner with East Ventures on this Southeast Asia transaction, a market with significant growth potential. Building on our long-standing relationship, we swiftly achieved East Ventures’ objectives, delivering substantial value to their investors. This transaction highlights Coller’s ability to provide innovative, tailored liquidity solutions and foster alignment between sponsors and their limited partners,” said Peter Kim, Partner and Head of Asia and RMB at Coller Capital.
This transaction showcases the evolution of the venture capital and secondary markets in Asia.
