GENEVA, March 20, 2025 – How does the health of your mouth affect your mental state? The FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) is tackling this question on World Oral Health Day (WOHD) with a brand-new, engaging song, which can now be found on . The song encourages people across the globe to sing along and spread the word about the significant connection between oral health and mental well-being.
The WOHD campaign is building on its previous focus, moving from the connection between the mouth and body in 2024 to the link between the mouth and mind in 2025. This is reflected in the tagline, “A Happy Mouth Is a Happy Mind.” This year’s theme highlights that taking care of your mouth not only benefits your overall health but also builds self-esteem, boosts confidence, and improves your quality of life.
At the center of the campaign is a vibrant new anthem and an , featuring , FDI’s well-loved oral health mascot. The song aims to motivate people everywhere—from individuals to communities and leaders—to prioritize their oral health. After all, everyone is entitled to a healthy mouth, free from oral diseases.
“Oral health is a right, not something extra,” says FDI President Dr Greg Chadwick. “However, many people worldwide still cannot get the dental care they need. Despite improvements, inequalities in oral health persist around the world. Many disadvantaged communities and vulnerable groups face major obstacles in getting affordable, quality dental care, which puts them at greater risk of diseases that can be prevented. Because oral health is an essential part of universal health coverage, FDI is still pushing for complete and inclusive healthcare policies.”
In this situation, WOHD provides a crucial opportunity to come together and amplify voices, urging governments to take strong action.
“That’s why we’re very proud to be working with organizations like , , , and ,” Dr. Chadwick continues. “Through these partnerships, we can reach more people, raise more awareness, and empower people to take charge of their oral health. Together, we can lessen the global impact of oral disease and improve access to good oral health.”
This year, FDI has also started a , inviting people from all over the world to share stories about how their oral health, or community projects related to oral health, have changed their lives. Partners are already leading the way by sharing
”By sharing real stories, we hope to inspire action and create meaningful change. Ultimately, it’s by hearing these stories that we can connect with people and make a real difference,” says Dr Anna Lella, Chair of the WOHD Working Group.
This World Oral Health Day, let’s unite, act, and spread the word that oral health is important. Share the song, , and help us build a world where everyone can experience the benefits of a happy, healthy mouth.
