
CHENGDU, China, Feb. 26, 2025 — The inaugural “Starlight Shines • Mini-Drama Night” series event, co-organized by the China Federation of Radio and Television Associations and Xi’an Jiaotong University, in conjunction with Chengdu, Sichuan Province, was held in Chengdu from January 7 to 9, 2025. The event focused on the “FanXing Index,” an innovative evaluation system designed for the promotion and application of mini-dramas. This event represented a significant milestone as the first annual gathering dedicated to the rapidly growing mini-drama sector, attracting considerable attention from industry participants and the wider public.

The “Starlight Shines” Mini-Drama Industry Development Conference took place on the morning of January 8, bringing together more than 500 attendees, including government representatives, academic scholars, seasoned industry professionals, executives from streaming platforms, investors, and members of the press. Wang Wenbin, the Dean of the School of Journalism and New Media at Xi’an Jiaotong University, presented the “FanXing 2024 Mini-Drama Industry Insight Report.” The report emphasized that 70% of internet users are now watching mini-dramas, confirming their importance as a leading form of online entertainment. The creative landscape has become more diverse with increasing involvement from video platforms, broadcasters, and traditional film studios, and the emphasis on high-quality production is starting to yield positive outcomes.
The “Starlight Shines • Mini-Drama Night” Gala, which was held that same evening, showcased 65 outstanding examples across seven categories, including exceptional mini-dramas, platforms, and production companies, collectively demonstrating the industry’s vibrant state.
Furthermore, the series included four parallel forums that addressed important topics such as: Enhancing the Quality of Mini-Dramas; Opportunities for Global Expansion of Mini-Dramas; AIGC-Driven Innovation in Mini-Drama Creation; and Investment and Entrepreneurship within the Mini-Drama Industry. These forums encouraged discussion, resource exchange, and collaboration among leaders in the field.
