LANCASTER, Texas, June 18, 2025 — FreshRealm, Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific chicken fettuccine alfredo meals sold at Walmart and Kroger, amid an ongoing inquiry into the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

These meals are distributed nationally at Walmart, under its Marketside label, and at Kroger, under its Home Chef label.

The recall applies to the following products:

  • Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine 12.3 oz
  • Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine 32.8 oz
  • Home Chef Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo 12.5 oz

FreshRealm has instructed Walmart and Kroger to remove these meals from their shelves and out of their stock. Customers who have acquired this meal are advised to dispose of it or bring it back to the store where it was bought for a reimbursement.

As a precautionary measure, FreshRealm is recalling the item while the inquiry continues. The investigation will examine the potential entry points of Listeria into the product, including whether it originated from a FreshRealm facility or through components supplied by external vendors.

FreshRealm upholds its commitment to the most stringent food safety standards and is collaborating closely with the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ensuring complete transparency and cooperation throughout this procedure.

This voluntary recall by FreshRealm is issued purely as a precautionary measure, reflecting a full dedication to public health and safety. The company itself has not had any direct reports of sickness linked to the product, but has been informed by regulatory bodies of cases, including four consumers who stated they consumed the chicken alfredo item. Regulatory agencies are currently investigating a total of seventeen cases, which include three fatalities and one pregnancy loss. It has not been confirmed that the recalled product is the cause of any of these incidents.

No other products manufactured by FreshRealm are affected by this voluntary recall.

Ingesting food tainted with Listeria monocytogenes can lead to listeriosis, a severe infection predominantly impacting older individuals, those with compromised immune systems, and expectant mothers along with their infants. Individuals outside of these vulnerable groups are less frequently affected.

Listeriosis symptoms may include fever, muscle pain, headaches, rigid neck, disorientation, impaired balance, and seizures, sometimes following diarrhea or other digestive issues. Any individual worried about potential illness should seek medical advice.
