Hinojosa Packaging Group

The EcoVadis assessment encompasses various non-financial management systems, including environmental impact, labor practices and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Hinojosa improved its scores in both environmental and labor practices/human rights by 10 points each, reaching 90 and 80 respectively. This progress propelled its overall score, placing it among the top 3% of all assessed companies.

Environmental improvements stem from validated emissions reduction targets and achieving the Net-Zero Standard by 2050, as part of the SBTi (Science Based Target initiative). Key commitments include a 60% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 42% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, along with using 100% renewable electricity.

Beyond these future commitments, Hinojosa maintains a daily focus on sustainable, consistent growth aligned with circular economy principles. In 2023, the company reduced emissions by 16% year-over-year. This substantial reduction accompanied a waste recovery rate exceeding 95% and a 7% increase in renewable energy use for production, reaching 71% of total energy consumption.

Hinojosa’s positive impact on labor practices and human rights is also recognized by EcoVadis. Initiatives like the expansion of its FP Dual program and the establishment of the Hinojosa Cathedra with Universitat Politècnica de València highlight its efforts. Furthermore, employee commitment to the MSH (Hinojosa Safety Model) has resulted in a nearly 50% reduction in workplace injuries.

EcoVadis ratings consider company size, location, and sector. Over 90,000 companies worldwide receive scores between 0 and 100, with medals awarded for exceptional performance. Following bronze (2020) and silver (2021) medals, Hinojosa now boasts three consecutive gold medals (2022, 2023, 2024). The assessment also provides feedback on strengths and areas for improvement (22 identified), guiding Hinojosa’s sustainability initiatives and action planning.
