The Korea Trade Commission (KTC) ruled that NUC engaged in patent infringement, mandating cessation of activities, payment of fines, and public disclosure.
SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 16, 2025 — Hurom, a leading global producer of low-speed masticating juicers, has successfully concluded a Korea Trade Commission (KTC) investigation (Remedy 4-1-2023-8) proving NUC, the Kuvings juicer manufacturer, engaged in patent infringement and unfair trade practices.

The KTC’s December 19, 2024 ruling determined that NUC violated Hurom’s patent rights, leading to a corrective order, fines, and formal notification to NUC.
Following a complaint filed by Hurom in December 2023, and an inquiry initiated in January 2024, the KTC announced its findings on December 19th, confirming NUC’s unfair practices, with final notification on December 31st.
The KTC order requires NUC to halt the export and domestic manufacturing for export of its AUTO10 juicer, dispose of existing inventory, publicly acknowledge its patent infringement and the corrective order, and pay a ₩152.5 million ($105,000 USD) fine.
This ruling supports a similar July 2023 Amazon Patent Evaluation Express (APEX) decision (APEX ID: 15060613361), which found NUC guilty of patent infringement, suspending sales of five NUC models (REVO830W, EVO820GM, C7000S, C7000W, and C7000P) in the United States. The KTC’s ruling further strengthens Hurom’s position.
Established in 1974, Hurom has pioneered juicing technology for over 50 years, introducing the world’s first vertical masticating juicer in 2005. A global leader in health innovation, Hurom has set the standard for vertical juicing.
Hurom is also pursuing legal action against patent-infringing manufacturers and distributors in the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Europe and remains dedicated to protecting its intellectual property through legal means.
