TORONTO, Feb. 18, 2025 – Loopstra Nixon happily announces the election of Peter Saad as the firm’s new Managing Partner. After eight years as Managing Partner, Allan Ritchie transitions to Chair, offering support and guidance to the new Managing Partner and focusing on the firm’s growth strategy.

Under Allan’s leadership, the firm expanded from 40 to 118 lawyers, with a fourfold increase in revenue and profits. Five new offices opened across Ontario, including one in Toronto’s financial district (now with over 50 lawyers). This growth followed Loopstra Nixon’s mergers with Macdonald Sager LLP and Feige Nawrocki LLP in 2023. An eight-lawyer office also opened in Vaughan’s Metropolitan Centre. In 2023, the firm became the first Canadian mid-sized firm to achieve Mansfield Certification, demonstrating its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

In 2024, Allan received the Canadian Law Awards Managing Partner of the Year award and was named one of Canada’s 25 Most Influential Lawyers by Canadian Lawyer Magazine.

“I am delighted to collaborate with Peter in this new role. His leadership skills and dedication are evident. He’s been key to our strategy and growth. Our partners are eager to begin this new chapter under his leadership,” said Allan.

Peter Saad joined Loopstra Nixon as a partner in 2021. He previously practiced capital markets law at Shearman & Sterling in New York City and Toronto and led his own successful GTA firm.

He heads the firm’s expanding Healthcare M&A Team and has a thriving corporate and commercial practice. Since 2023, he’s served on the Executive Committee and co-chaired the Finance Committee, contributing to the firm’s Growth Committee. Peter actively supports LN’s vision, mentoring lawyers and staff while remaining involved in the community. He’s been recognized by Chambers Canada Guide as a leading corporate/commercial lawyer in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

“I am honored to work with such talented colleagues at Loopstra Nixon. Allan’s leadership has been pivotal to our success. Our people are our strength, making our firm exceptional. Together, we will continue to grow, and the future is bright. Through collaboration and a commitment to excellence, we will build on our achievements,” said Peter.

Peter will be supported by a six-member Executive Committee including elected equity partners and C-suite leaders: Pat Carrano, CFO, and Samantha Scimmi, COO.

“Peter assumes this role with the firm’s former leaders’ enthusiastic support, providing valuable institutional knowledge from over 50 years of leadership,” said former managing partner, Ian Scarlett, who led the firm’s growth from 15 to 40 lawyers (2008-2017).

Scarlett and firm co-founder Sandy Nixon serve on the Executive Committee and maintain active corporate law practices.

“It’s been an incredible journey since Chuck Loopstra and I founded the firm in North Etobicoke in 1973. I’m energized by the ambitious partners, like Peter, who share our passion. We’re excited about our future,” Said Sandy.

Peter’s three-year term begins immediately.
