MONTREAL, Jan. 23, 2025 – Montréal’s appeal resonates strongly with visitors, exceeding expectations. A Léger survey commissioned by Tourisme Montréal reveals exceptional visitor satisfaction: 93% reported a positive experience.

Montréal’s allure extends beyond initial visits; nearly 90% of respondents expressed plans to return. High satisfaction ratings (over 80%) were given across various aspects, encompassing hospitality, urban exploration, accessibility, and safety.

“Our marketing and sales teams’ efforts are clearly successful in attracting major conventions and supporting festivals and events, thereby boosting the city’s cultural vibrancy. Over 10 million website visits and roughly 30 million Google searches for ‘travel Montreal’ in 2024 demonstrate sustained and growing interest. We remain committed to showcasing our 1,040 members and the broader tourism sector to enhance Montréal’s global profile,” stated Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal.

2024 Key Figures

Montréal saw a significant increase in visitor numbers in 2024, up nearly 7% compared to 2023. This growth is particularly notable among Canadian and American visitors, with increases of 6% and 11%, respectively.

  • The new Montréal-Seoul air route fueled a remarkable 63% surge in Korean visitors.
  • China witnessed a strong rebound, with a 46% increase despite the lack of a direct flight.
  • Japan maintained its strong interest, showing a 16% rise in tourism.
  • Tourism from French-speaking countries, especially the Maghreb region (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia), experienced robust 19% growth, while France saw a 3% increase.

The city’s hotel capacity expanded by 2%, reaching 23,000 rooms, while the occupancy rate remained steady at 71.2%.

Winter Tourism Success

Tourisme Montréal celebrates the sustained growth in winter tourism. Targeted marketing and strategic investments have contributed to a projected 9.2% increase in visitors between December 15, 2024, and March 15, 2025, building on the previous winter’s 5.6% growth.
