AURORA, Ill., April 16, 2025 — At a recent gathering, author Karen Dix announced that her first book, , is now for sale on Amazon. Dix is a writer, religious education instructor, and former stage actress.
“I’ve always considered devotionals a helpful way to deepen my faith and prayer life,” Dix stated. “Writing Broadway Blessings was a natural merging of two things I love: my faith and musical theater.”
This devotional provides a year-long, week-by-week exploration of Christian themes found in the stories and characters of musical theater. Dix delves into 52 musicals, examining a specific Christian lesson within each, accompanied by a reflection and prayer. She also shares a personal “musical memory” connected to each musical.
While Broadway Blessings is the first book credited solely to Dix, she has assisted hundreds of authors over the past two decades as an editor, developmental coach, and ghostwriter, including some who have achieved Amazon bestseller status. She runs , a content marketing agency that assists entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses in developing marketing messages, executing marketing plans for their offerings, and writing books. She formerly wrote for , and her work on behalf of her clients has been featured in numerous industry, local, and online publications. She has also worked closely with the publisher of Broadway Blessings, and .
Dix served as a religious education instructor for over 15 years while raising her four children and consistently seeks opportunities for spiritual enrichment. Currently, she supports the local Scouts in Scouting America and Girl Scouts of the USA as the chair of the Joliet Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting, which aids youth in the instruction and awarding of Catholic Scouting medals.
From 1989 to 2002, Karen performed with theater groups in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois. She currently lives in the Chicagoland area, where she has performed in musical theater productions with , , and in Naperville. She mentioned that she eventually transitioned to being an audience member and providing backstage support for her daughters, who participated in several summer productions at , under the direction of , who authored the foreword for Broadway Blessings.
“Although this book is a Christian devotional, it explores universal values like kindness, forgiveness, hope, and redemption,” Dix explained. “By presenting faith through the lens of musical theater, I hope to help others find comfort in prayer and emphasize the Christian messages often overlooked in mainstream entertainment.”
