TOKYO and KAWASAKI, Japan, January 27, 2025 — Sustainable Shared Transport Inc. (SST), a Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. subsidiary, and Fujitsu Limited, today announced a new joint transportation and delivery platform for Japanese shippers and logistics providers. SST will begin offering this service on February 1, 2025.
Founded on May 21, 2024, SST aims to create a sustainable supply chain via this platform, leveraging standardized pallet transport (physically) and information exchange (digitally). This new service matches shippers and logistics providers, primarily focusing on long-haul transport.
Fujitsu, committed to a responsible digital society and prioritizing supply chain solutions, will use SST’s service as a shipper and has co-developed a data integration platform. On February 1, 2025, Fujitsu will invest 50 million yen in SST.
This initiative addresses Japanese logistics challenges, including capacity shortages and climate concerns, prompting industry transformation for efficiency and improved working conditions. Government legislation, effective April 2025, encourages logistics optimization.
However, industry-specific systems and practices hinder broader solutions. To overcome this, the Yamato Group formed SST in May 2024 to foster cross-industry collaboration. With Fujitsu, SST has built a foundational, inter-company data integration system.
Future Plans
SST and Fujitsu aim to build a sustainable, cross-industry supply chain using Yamato Group’s extensive client and logistics provider network, transport infrastructure, operational expertise, and Fujitsu’s manufacturing, distribution, and system development capabilities. They will develop a digital infrastructure linking commercial and logistics information and promote data integration to optimize the entire supply chain.
