VANCOUVER, BC, March 2, 2025 — The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) made a significant appearance at the Vancouver Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show on March 1-2, 2025, attracting Canadian outdoor enthusiasts with its exciting adventure tourism offerings. The event put a spotlight on Taiwan’s stunning cycling paths, impressive hiking routes, and engaging cultural experiences, reinforcing the island’s position as a top destination for adventure lovers.
Sylvia Lee, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s San Francisco Office (responsible for the Western Canada market), noted Canadians’ strong interest in outdoor activities. Focusing partly on cycling tourism, the TTA’s booth showcased Taiwan’s Cycling Route No. 1, along with ten major cycling spots across the island, inviting international visitors to discover Taiwan by bicycle. Lee stated, “Taiwan’s diverse scenery and rich ecological environment make it an ideal place for outdoor adventures. Biking through local towns allows visitors to truly experience Taiwan’s culture and beautiful natural landscapes.”
The Taiwan booth was a popular spot for travelers planning their next trip to Taiwan. Representatives from China Airlines, EVA Air, Lion Travel, Super Value Tours, and One Dream Travel provided information to visitors. Interactive displays and limited-edition Year of the Snake lanterns from the Taiwan Lantern Festival attracted many attendees. The booth also gave a preview of the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi County, inviting Canadian travelers to see one of Taiwan’s most spectacular yearly events.
The show emphasized Taiwan’s increasing appeal to North American travelers. In 2024, visitor numbers from North America rose to 763,000, a significant 23% increase from 2023, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. Canada remains Taiwan’s second-largest source of tourists from the Americas, due to its vibrant culture, easy transportation, and renowned hospitality. Through its presence at major Canadian travel shows, the Taiwan Tourism Administration aims to strengthen Taiwan’s brand as a destination, highlight its many tourism opportunities, and build strong relationships with local travel agencies.
Throughout the event, travel partners presented exclusive adventure packages designed for Canadian tourists. Super Value Tours highlighted Taiwan’s west coast with memorable cycling trips and relaxed tea plantation tours, including peaceful visits to Alishan and Sun Moon Lake. Lion Travel introduced new railway adventures on the “Haifeng (Ocean Breeze)” and “Shanlan (Mountain Mist)” trains, perfect for train enthusiasts worldwide. Meanwhile, One Dream Travel attracted outdoor adventurers with a nine-day Cycling Route No. 1 tour, offering a unique chance to explore Taiwan’s amazing scenery by bike.
To further encourage Canadian travelers to visit Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism Administration promoted special incentives. Eligible Canadian passport holders can enter the “Taiwan the Lucky Land” promotion for a chance to win NT$5,000 (about CA$220) to spend. Additionally, travelers can take advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free deal on high-speed rail tickets south of Taichung. Other attractive offers include the “Taiwan Pass,” which combines high-speed rail, metro, and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle services, as well as free half-day transit tours.
The Vancouver Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show saw an overwhelmingly positive response, confirming Taiwan’s status as a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Canadian travelers left the event feeling inspired and excited to plan their next adventure in Taiwan!
