PHOENIX, March 27, 2025 — In a significant move, President Donald J. Trump has issued a complete pardon to Trevor Milton, the founder of Nikola Corporation, declaring his innocence. This action aligns with President Trump’s second inaugural promise to stop the Justice Department from being used for political purposes.
Milton, recognized as a pioneering entrepreneur for bringing the first zero-emission semi-truck to production in the U.S., was prosecuted by the Southern District of New York, under the leadership of former U.S. Attorney Damian Williams and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Podolsky and Nicolas Roos. Milton maintained his innocence and fought to expose what he claimed were critical legal flaws in the case against him, ultimately leading to his pardon.
The parallels between Milton’s legal battle and those faced by President Trump himself underscore alleged systemic problems within the justice system, specifically within the Southern District of New York.
“This pardon is not only about me, but about all Americans who have been unfairly targeted by the government, which is unfortunately a large number,” Milton stated.
“It’s not surprising that trust in the Justice Department has completely disappeared. I hope judges will stop blindly accepting what prosecutors tell them, so Americans can regain faith in the justice system. Until that changes, our justice system will continue to deteriorate.”
“The high conviction rate of over 90% in New York is alarming and results from prosecutors obtaining whatever they want and unjustly imprisoning people. I personally witnessed the tactics they use to ensure those convictions. I am deeply thankful to President Trump for his courage in standing up for what is right and for granting me this important pardon.”
Now that his record has been fully cleared, and his freedom and rights have been restored, Milton is preparing to release a documentary, with a preview available at .
