EAST HARTFORD, Conn., April 9, 2025 — IAE International Aero Engines AG (IAE) announced today that the V2500® engine has logged over 300 million hours in the air. IAE is a global consortium that includes Pratt & Whitney, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) company, Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, and MTU Aero Engines AG.

The V2500 engine, which powers around 2,800 aircraft and serves more than 150 operators, supports passenger, cargo, and military operations globally. It currently powers the Airbus A320ceo family, including A321F passenger-to-cargo conversions, and the Embraer C-390 Millennium multi-role military transport aircraft.

IAE commemorated 40 years of partnership and innovation in 2023 and successfully tested the V2500 using 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel in 2024.

“The V2500 is a key player in the industry, and reaching 300 million flight hours underscores its proven reliability and performance,” stated Kelly Horan, president of IAE. “With an average lifespan of 15 years, the V2500 engine is at its peak, and we continue to provide tailored solutions to meet our customers’ specific requirements.”

In a testament to its endurance, the V2500 engine with the most operating time was recently removed for maintenance after achieving over 43,000 hours since its initial installation in April 2013.

Pratt & Whitney and IAE offer upgraded services for the V2500 engine, including solutions for life-limited parts, programs for new and serviceable materials, and engine swaps, all customizable to meet the unique operational and financial needs of operators. The V2500 engine is supported by 13 established facilities worldwide that offer maintenance, repair, and overhaul services, including eight facilities belonging to IAE party companies.
