Hostage’s Mother Urges Trump, Netanyahu to Secure Son’s Release Before Ceasefire Fails “`

Idit Ohel, Alon Ohel’s mother, desperately urged President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure her son’s release from Hamas captivity before the ceasefire collapses.

She stressed the urgency, fearing for her son’s life if hostilities resume, citing past incidents where hostages perished after a conflict erupted. She received confirmation of his survival from fellow hostages Eli Sharabi and Or Levy, who described Alon’s injuries and suffering.

According to the released hostages, Alon, injured by shrapnel during the October 7th attack while sheltering at the Nova music festival, has suffered eye damage. His mother highlighted his family’s history of Holocaust survival, emphasizing his tenacious fight for survival despite his ordeal.

Hamas’s refusal to release three more hostages, citing Israeli ceasefire violations, heightened fears of renewed conflict. Trump demanded all 76 hostages’ release by Saturday or the ceasefire’s termination; Netanyahu supported this ultimatum.

With escalating tensions, Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, is traveling to Israel and Qatar, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Israel on Saturday, attempting to prevent the ceasefire’s breakdown. Ohel implored Trump and Netanyahu to intervene and bring her son home.

She described Alon’s inhumane conditions: held in tunnels, deprived of food and medical care, chained, and starved for nearly 500 days. She contrasted this with the food supplies reaching Gaza, highlighting his suffering. The lack of contact or treatment from the International Committee of the Red Cross further fueled her desperation.

Ohel, who held a rally in Tel Aviv for her son’s 24th birthday—his second in captivity—described her emotional distress and appealed to the world’s mothers to empathize with her plight. She concluded with a heartfelt message to Alon, expressing unwavering love and support, urging fellow musicians to play songs in his honor and reaffirming that he is not alone.
