Video Shows Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar Evacuating to Tunnel Before Gaza Attack

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has released footage showing the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar evacuating his family into a tunnel beneath Gaza in the hours leading up to his terrorist group’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

The video depicts Sinwar transporting his family and possessions, including pillows, water, and a television, into a bunker in Khan Younis, according to the IDF.

“While sheltering in the tunnels of Khan Younis, Sinwar ordered the commencement of the Oct. 7 attack. Sinwar’s army of terrorists invaded Israel, murdered families, raped women, and kidnapped men, women, children, and infants into Gaza,” a narrator states in the video.

The narrator further emphasized that Sinwar’s ability to reside underground during the conflict was a “luxury that the people of Gaza did not have as Sinwar always prioritized himself, his wealth, and Hamas terrorists over the people of Gaza.”

An Israel Army Radio report disclosed on Thursday that Sinwar perished during a confrontation with Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip city of Rafah.

The soldiers identified suspected terrorists in Gaza and initiated gunfire, prompting the individuals to flee into a building, according to the report. It added that a tank subsequently fired a shell at the structure, causing its collapse.

Upon entering the wreckage, the soldiers discovered three bodies, one of which was later confirmed to be Sinwar.

The IDF also released video footage capturing Sinwar’s final moments before his death, showing him barricaded in the building.
