VoePass Plane Crashes in Brazil with 62 Onboard

A VoePass aircraft carrying 62 people crashed in Vinhedo, São Paulo state, Brazil, on Friday.

The plane, which departed from Cascavel in Paraná state, had 58 passengers and four crew members on board. The crash occurred in a residential area and resulted in a fiery wreck.

Firefighters, military police, and civil defense authorities have deployed teams to the crash site.

The extent of injuries or fatalities is currently unknown.

GloboNews, a Brazilian television network, broadcast aerial footage showing a burning area with smoke emanating from a destroyed plane fuselage. Additional footage captured the plane descending vertically and spiraling as it fell.

The Capela neighborhood, where the crash took place, is situated far from the city center, which has a population of 77,000 residents.

At an event in southern Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced the news and asked the audience to stand for a minute of silence.

He indicated that it appeared all passengers and crew members on board had perished, without providing details about how this information was obtained.

Arthur Rosenberg, an aviation expert and former pilot, stated that video footage of the plane suggests a stall in midair.

“A stall occurs when the plane’s forward motion is insufficient to maintain lift and keep it airborne,” he explained. “The sound indicates a problem with one or both engines.”

Radar data revealed a “rapid descent,” which could have been caused by engine failure or another malfunction, Rosenberg said.

“It seemed to drop 17,000 feet in approximately two minutes,” he added.
