Stronger partnership encouraged among government communicators in Benguet

COMMUNICATORS and information officers in the province of Benguet were encouraged to build up a stronger partnership to provide information to the public.

“It is important that we build relationship among us communicators in the government because that is the best way that we can give to the public the easy access of information which we should impart to them,” Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera Regional Director Helen Tibaldo stressed in her message during the recent Seminar-Workshop of Benguet information officers.

Tibaldo encouraged the participants to collaborate with the different offices and agencies and also with the PIA to be able to communicate the programs and services of their respective offices to the public.

“Nakapa importante that we strengthen our role as information officers and be able to communicate the government’s programs and the agencies services to the communities that we serve,” she said.

She added that as information officers, they should always step up to the call of the time and they should be able to connect to each one so that we can deliver the kind of services needed by their clients and the public.

Tibaldo said that the PIA has been conducting trainings for government communicators to be able to capacitate them to communicate and propagate the needed information from the different government offices to the general public and to specific audiences.

She also presented the priority programs of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and discussed areas of cooperation and collaboration which could be undertaken by the information officers.

The provincial government of Benguet thru the Governor’s Office partnered with the PIA-CAR for the conduct of a seminar-workshop aimed at empowering the information officers of Benguet with communication strategies and skills.

About 70 information officers and communicators from the different offices of the provincial and municipal local government units and national line agencies participated in the two-day seminar-workshop facilitated by the Benguet PIO and the PIA-CAR personnel.

Governor Melchor Diclas recognized the need to strengthen the networks of the government information officers and to empower them with communication strategies, which the seminar-workshop was held to fulfill.

During the seminar-workshop, PIA-CAR Information Officer Jam Malingan provided lecture on news and feature writing. She also discussed creating and consuming information in the age of social media which includes the social media platforms that could be availed for the promotion of information by the participating offices.

Benguet PLGU information officer Silver Pilo said that the seminar-workshop was initially organized to provide a lecture for government information officers particularly for the production of the Adivay Digest of the provincial government of Benguet but was expanded to provide training for more communicators in the province and will be contributors of the provincial newsletter.
