YICHANG, China, Nov. 28, 2025 — Angel Yeast (SH600298), a global leader in yeast and fermentation solutions, has initiated trial operations at its new specialty yeast facility located in the Baiyang Biotechnology Park, Yichang High-tech Zone. The facility began feeding materials on August 31 and is projected to reach its full annual production capacity of 8,500 tons upon complete ramp-up. This launch finalizes Angel Yeast’s comprehensive strategy in specialty yeast, encompassing R&D, pilot production, and large-scale manufacturing. This will enhance the supply of high-value, yeast-derived ingredients for craft brewing, winemaking, and bioenergy, thereby strengthening the biomanufacturing value chain.

According to Qin Benguo, Assistant Director of Specialty Yeast Production at Angel Yeast’s Yichang High-tech subsidiary, specialty yeast requires a microbiological standard at the ten-thousand level, which means significantly fewer contaminants. To maintain a highly sterile storage environment for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and other nutrients, filtered air is introduced into pressurized feeding tanks to maintain positive pressure.
The core production lines are fully automated, covering feeding, fermentation, packaging, and storage, which ensures consistent and reproducible quality at scale.
Angel’s specialty yeast, which has a broader range of applications than conventional baker’s yeast, is aimed at high-value sectors like craft beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages, fuel ethanol, and biomass energy. By providing stable, high-quality raw materials on a large scale, the new facility will enable brewers and bioenergy producers to increase yields, improve process stability, and enhance flavor and performance consistency—key factors for accelerating product innovation and market growth.
Angel Yeast Commissions Brewing Functional Microorganism Pilot Test Platform
To complement the new production line, Angel Yeast has also put its Brewing Functional Microorganism Pilot Test Platform into operation. This platform is designed to connect laboratory discoveries with industrial-scale validation. By simulating real-world brewery conditions, the platform overcomes the limitations of on-site trials—such as inconsistent operator practices and imprecise timing—by providing reproducible, data-driven results similar to those obtained in a factory. It is equipped with real-time monitoring to track microbial dynamics and flavor compound development, which allows for precise quality assessment, faster R&D cycles, and optimized technical plans for partners.

According to Luo Xinjie, Director of Brewing Technical Support at Angel Yeast’s Food & Fermentation Business Unit, the platform’s real-time monitoring systems enable the company to track microbial dynamics and flavor compound evolution in a controlled, factory-like environment. This allows for unprecedented precision in assessing product quality, refining R&D strategies, and optimizing technical solutions for partners.
In the baijiu sector, Angel’s solutions have already contributed to increased yield, enhanced fermentation stability, and precise flavor control. With the pilot platform, the time from R&D to industrial application can be significantly reduced, giving breweries faster access to customized, validated solutions, which reduces time-to-market and improves operational efficiency.
The 8,500-ton specialty yeast facility and the Brewing Functional Microorganism Pilot Platform together create a strong engine for global biomanufacturing and brewing innovation. As Angel Yeast expands its capabilities—from clean, automated specialty yeast production to translational pilot testing—the company is prepared to offer more functional, sustainable solutions and drive growth in bio-based products worldwide.
