(SeaPRwire) –   NEW YORK, March 27, 2026 — Amid Shen Yun’s ongoing 2026 global tour, several performers took a break from the stage to attend a special red-carpet event.

Shen Yun principal dancers showcase exquisite traditional Chinese gowns created by Shen Yun's Artistic Director, D.F.

They gathered with filmmakers and distinguished guests for the worldwide debut of “Unbroken: The Untold Story of Shen Yun” at New York City’s AMC Lincoln Square. The launch of this acclaimed documentary from NTD’s Sincere Pictures coincides with Shen Yun’s 20th-anniversary celebrations.

The premiere also heralded Shen Yun’s upcoming engagement at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, featuring a series of performances running until April 12.

The company’s principal dancers made a striking entrance in gowns that drew inspiration from traditional Chinese clothing. These vibrant handmade dresses in yellow, orange, and blue were crafted by Shen Yun’s Artistic Director D.F., who is responsible for designing the troupe’s entire costume collection annually.

“Unbroken” chronicles Shen Yun’s ascent to becoming the leading global classical Chinese dance and music ensemble, dedicated to presenting authentic Chinese cultural beauty—envisioning a “China before communism”—to international audiences. The film, through the perspectives of performers and their families, uncovers the obstacles they confront offstage. Their perseverance is tested not only by the demanding pursuit of artistic excellence but also by a widespread and intensifying campaign of disruption associated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Following a screening for a packed theater, executive producer Steve Lance moderated a panel discussion featuring several company members. They shared their personal experiences with Shen Yun, the specific adversities the organization has faced, and the steadfast determination and belief that sustain them.

The panel also highlighted a broader, frequently overlooked aspect of their narrative. Close to 100 Shen Yun artists have personally endured the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, their common spiritual practice, within China. Their experiences include surviving torture, fleeing labor camps, and losing family members. A core element of Shen Yun’s purpose is to bring attention to this continuing human rights issue, with artists portraying stories reflective of their own lives in their performances.

“Unbroken: The Untold Story of Shen Yun” can be streamed free of charge until April 12, 2026. More information is available at UnbrokenShenYunMovie.com
