BOSTON, May 15, 2025 — The Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) and are working together to make it easier to identify reliable digital health tools. The , which launched last year, is given to digital health software products (DHSPs) that demonstrate strong usability, privacy, security, and evidence. This collaboration expands the assessment of DHSPs to include a clinical component, with Elevance Health contributing a clinical evidence assessment. DiMe will then award its “DiMe Seal” to DHSPs that meet all evaluation criteria.
Each benchmark signifies a key value expected from a trustworthy product by users, healthcare providers, and payers. Annual reviews will guarantee continuous adherence to the most current industry standards and guidelines.
With over 350,000 health apps available, including more than 30,000 for clinicians and healthcare administrators, it’s becoming harder to find trustworthy, high-quality options. A consumer-centered strategy is needed to boost the widespread use of healthcare technologies. The DiMe Seal tackles this issue by identifying DHSPs that meet strict criteria and are most likely to improve health outcomes.
Elevance Health’s clinical evidence assessment is based on the framework. This framework, developed through a DiMe-led collaboration in 2023, assists payers and other organizations in quickly assessing the clinical value of digital health products.
“To improve health outcomes at scale, the digital health industry must prioritize evidence-based practices. Elevance Health is pleased to be a leader in the clinical evaluation of digital health software products,” said Jordan Silberman, MD, PhD, Director of Clinical Analytics & Research, Elevance Health. “Strategic partnerships and responsible innovation are crucial for building trust in these products among individuals and their care teams.”
“Clinical evidence assessment is often time-consuming and expensive. By incorporating this essential element into the DiMe Seal process, we help developers address clinical requirements and validate their products’ value,” said Doug Mirsky, Vice President, Digital Medicine Society. “Elevance Health’s thorough clinical assessment makes it easier for health systems, clinicians, and users to adopt effective new technologies.”
