
PLAINFIELD, Ind., July 18, 2025 — Duke Energy is carefully watching weather forecasts and taking precautions for potentially severe weather. The weather may include strong thunderstorms and damaging winds, which could cause widespread power outages across their service area in Indiana this weekend.
According to Clint Carnahan, Duke Energy’s general manager of emergency preparedness, being prepared is key to staying safe during severe weather. He stated that the company regularly plans for storms throughout the year and encourages customers to also prepare so they can respond quickly if a storm hits.
Be prepared
- Keep mobile phones charged and have enough flashlights, batteries, bottled water, nonperishable food, and medications on hand.
- If someone at your home depends on electric-powered life support equipment or has special needs, create a plan for what to do if there’s an extended power outage, including finding alternative shelter.
