LUXEMBOURG, July 24, 2025 — The Ferrero Group today unveiled the latest advancements in its sustainability journey, marked by the release of its 16th Sustainability Report.

Driven by the Ferrero Group’s enduring commitment to making a positive difference throughout its value chain, the report highlights the significant and ongoing progress the company has achieved across its primary sustainability priorities.

Ferrero’s most recent Sustainability Report underscores ongoing advancements in tracing its global supply chains, with over 90% of crucial ingredients now traced back to their origin. Strategic partnerships with Sourcemap and Starling are bolstering the precise tracking of vital commodities – reaching 97% traceability for both cocoa and palm oil, and 94% for hazelnuts.

Ferrero has achieved substantial headway towards its 2030 objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by half, having already accomplished notable reductions against its 2017/18 baseline.

  • Scope 1 and 2 emissions saw a 21.7% decrease.
  • For Scope 3, FLAG (Forest, Land, and Agriculture) and non-FLAG emissions were disaggregated to refine carbon accounting and boost data dependability and precision.
  • Renewable sources now provide 90% of the electricity used for manufacturing and warehousing.

With 92.1% of its packaging now designed for recyclability, the company has sustained its pledge to ensure over 90% of packaging materials are reusable, recyclable, or compostable.

  • Significant advancements have been made in decreasing virgin plastic, evidenced by a 13% reduction in the plastic-to-product ratio. This encompasses the change from polystyrene to polypropylene for Ferrero Rocher boxes in North America and China, yielding an estimated saving of around 11,000 tonnes of plastic.
  • Further notable points include the introduction of Nutella Plant-Based in jars crafted from 60% recycled glass and the deployment of Kinder Joy’s paper spoon.

Additional key points from the Ferrero Group’s Sustainability Report encompass:

  • Food Safety and Quality: All Ferrero facilities hold certifications against the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Standard.
  • Responsible Consumption: The company maintained its emphasis on precisely defined serving sizes. Of the marketed volumes, 85% featured a serving size of 130 kcal or less, 63% were 100 kcal or less, and 91% were under 150 kcal per serving.
  • Empowering People:
    – Ongoing influence within communities in sourcing nations through enduring collaborations with international and local bodies, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Save the Children.
    – Kinder Joy of moving engaged more than 3.7 million children across 35 countries, supported by investments exceeding EUR13 million. In 2024, Ferrero collaborated with the Organization of American States (OAS) to champion inclusion, equity, and access to rights through sports and physical activity, specifically for children, adolescents, and women throughout the Americas.
