(SeaPRwire) – 117 MW PJM project located in Highland County
MINNEAPOLIS, April 3, 2026 — Geronimo Power (Geronimo) has announced the commencement of commercial operations at its Dodson Creek Solar Project (Dodson Creek) in Highland County, Ohio. Situated within the PJM market, Dodson Creek will supply 117 megawatts (MW) of power and is projected to generate approximately $49 million in direct economic benefits for the local community.
“We are proud to expand our commitment to Ohio, working alongside our community members and project partners,” said Andy Cukurs, Chief Operations Officer for Geronimo Power. “With the addition of Dodson Creek, our total operating portfolio in Ohio now stands at 675 MW, which translates to over $240 million in economic benefits for local and state residents over the operational life of our portfolio.”
During its construction phase, the Dodson Creek project provided employment for up to 125 construction workers at its peak. The project was built by Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner, Kiewit Power Constructors Co.
“We are pleased that the Dodson Creek Solar Project has now reached commercial operation, demonstrating our strong collaboration with Geronimo Power and the Highland County community,” stated Brian Koller, Vice President of Kiewit Power Constructors Co. “Kiewit is proud to have successfully completed this project and to contribute to Ohio’s clean energy transition and its long-term economic development.”
Dodson Creek incorporates Series 7 modules developed and manufactured by First Solar, Inc (Nasdaq: FSLR), which maintains a significant manufacturing and research and development facility in nearby Perrysburg, Ohio.
“We are proud that our Series 7 technology is powering the Dodson Creek Solar Project,” commented Dr. Mounir El Asmar, First Solar’s Head of Strategic Accounts. “This achievement highlights the strength of our partnership with Geronimo Power and emphasizes how truly American solar technology can foster economic growth while meeting the nation’s demand for affordable energy.”
Over its initial 20 years of operation, Dodson Creek is expected to generate approximately $21 million in new tax revenue for Highland County, local townships, school districts, and emergency service districts (fire/EMS/mental health).
Furthermore, Geronimo has committed to contributing $585,000 to Highland County charities and organizations through a dedicated charitable fund. These operating project charitable funds are a distinctive initiative by Geronimo, reflecting their dedication to being supportive neighbors within the communities where their projects are developed.
