MUMBAI, India, Jan. 18, 2026 — From February 17–19, 2026, Mumbai will host the inaugural Global Economic Cooperation 2026 (GEC), an exclusive, high-level gathering. This event will bring together senior policymakers, international CEOs, investors, and leaders from multilateral organizations, both Indian and foreign, to explore how economic diplomacy, collaboration, and capital strategies need to adapt within an increasingly multipolar global landscape.

The Future Economic Cooperation Council (FECC), a non-profit organization, is convening this summit in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Maharashtra.
Its governing body includes Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, as Chief Patron; Mr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of Foreign Affairs for the Bharatiya Janata Party, as Director; and Ms. Priyam Gandhi-Mody, Founder of Vishwamitra Research Foundation, as Director and Curator.
Taking place during a period of significant global economic change, GEC 2026 aims to tackle the fundamental structural transformations influencing worldwide commerce, investment patterns, and economic governance. The event will emphasize collaboration extending beyond traditional trade, featuring focused discussions on infrastructure funding, advanced manufacturing, technological ecosystems, energy shifts, and robust supply chains. Key plenaries and private discussions will delve into topics such as economic corridors, investment alliances, digital infrastructure, ESG standards, and the regulation of new technologies—all crucial for national economic independence and global stability.
Commenting on the vision for GEC 2026, Priyam Gandhi-Mody, Director of the Future Economic Cooperation Council, stated, “The world economy is entering a critical decade where nations must safeguard against fragmentation, protectionism, and unpredictability. With Global Economic Cooperation 2026, India is taking the initiative to bring together governments, investors, and industry leaders to forge actionable strategies for collaboration in capital, infrastructure, technology, and energy, acknowledging the realities of a multipolar world and our collective duty for global prosperity.”
Mr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of Foreign Affairs for the Bharatiya Janata Party, remarked, “Guided by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has established enduring partnerships with international leaders that have proven resilient in an increasingly multipolar global environment. Economic engagement is now intrinsically linked with geopolitics. In this context, our hosting of GEC 2026 highlights India’s dedication to developing cooperative, rules-based economic structures that promote national interests while bolstering global stability.”
The third day of GEC 2026 will feature the introduction of the Emerging Leaders Circle, a specialized initiative designed to involve young entrepreneurs and future business leaders through tailored panels and discussions on global economic shifts and innovation. This Circle will be organized in partnership with prominent academic institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and Columbia University, highlighting the forum’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of worldwide economic leaders.
The Global Economic Cooperation platform envisions a future where economic pathways foster collaboration, and equitable access to trade, connectivity, and inclusivity promotes peace, prosperity, and collective advancement. Planned as an annual event, the forum will gather government ministers, sovereign and institutional investors, and CEOs from vital industries like infrastructure, logistics, ports, clean energy, AI, fintech, and advanced manufacturing. This inaugural edition seeks to establish the groundwork for innovative strategies in global economic cooperation.
