BARCELONA, Spain, March 2, 2026 — In today’s digital age, both contemporary living and the economy are deeply dependent on network infrastructure. The stability of these networks is a direct factor in the public’s digital quality of life and their engagement in society. Functioning as the “brain” of telecommunications, the core network serves millions of users, so any disruption can lead to significant societal impact. As network complexity grows, conventional operations and maintenance (O&M) approaches are becoming inadequate. The industry widely views Level 4 Autonomous Networks (AN L4) as the essential future direction.
The year 2025 signaled the start of AN L4 commercial deployment. In collaboration with industry partners, TM Forum published the seventh version of the Autonomous Networks White Paper, outlining the implementation milestones, core technologies, and solution packages for AN L4. This offered comprehensive guidance for telecom operators globally to roll out L4 solutions. To date, 18 major operators around the world have announced their AN L4 strategies and goals. Concurrently, evaluating core networks for high stability has gained universal industry agreement. Following the publication of these evaluation standards, six operators have received official certification from TM Forum.
Throughout the last year, Huawei’s ICNMaster MDAF has concentrated on enhancing stability and operational efficiency. It pioneered the industry’s first hybrid model architecture, known as Mixture of Models (MoM), which achieves the best balance of accuracy and efficiency. The solution also deployed intelligent agents for managing faults and handling customer complaints, enabling automation for specific scenarios. After a year of evolution, MDAF has been implemented within the networks of 14 top operators worldwide. This has led to substantial gains in O&M efficiency, shorter service restoration times, and an improved working experience for O&M staff.
Looking ahead to 2026, Huawei’s ICNMaster MDAF is committed to ongoing innovation and industry leadership. A new AN L4 solution will be launched to tackle operators’ most urgent challenges. Together with its global customers and partners, Huawei will propel progress in both the AN sector and the high-stability evaluation standards. This will assist operators worldwide in attaining efficient O&M and strong network reliability, marking a definitive step forward toward AN L4. We anticipate your involvement!
