ATLANTA and TOKYO, Jan. 27, 2026 — Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Landis+Gyr (SIX: LAND) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on advancing grid edge intelligence and speeding up the transition to new energy systems. A key element of this partnership is Mitsubishi Electric’s entry into Landis+Gyr’s expanding Application (App) Ecosystem.

Mitsubishi Electric and Landis+Gyr collaborate to advance grid edge intelligence and accelerate the energy transition

The Landis+Gyr App Ecosystem is an open and scalable platform that enables developers to build applications for advanced analytics, operational optimization, and consumer engagement within a secure framework. Mitsubishi Electric will use this ecosystem to create edge applications and develop sophisticated use cases, integrating with Landis+Gyr’s intelligent edge-capable devices like its premier grid sensor, Revelo®.

Mitsubishi Electric contributes its long-standing expertise in energy systems and grid management to a community of innovators dedicated to addressing critical energy issues. This alliance will provide utilities with tools to handle growing grid complexity, improve stability and reliability, enable new distributed energy resources (DERs) capabilities, and boost customer engagement. Consumers, in turn, will gain better control over their energy use and the efficiency of their devices. The initial focus will be on North America, a region experiencing rapid DER growth and fast-paced grid edge intelligence development, which will enable numerous innovative applications.

“Mitsubishi Electric’s unique knowledge—spanning power generation to home appliances—will be crucial in developing advanced applications that boost grid edge intelligence, improve utility decision-making, and drive innovation for the benefit of both utilities and their customers,” stated Amith Kota, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Landis+Gyr.

“We envision a future where energy resources are highly decentralized, supporting a new era of social infrastructure driven by autonomous decision-making and control at the edge. Partnering with Landis+Gyr, a global leader in grid edge platforms, allows us to merge centralized system-optimization capabilities with intelligent edge functions. By linking energy, assets, and data seamlessly, this partnership seeks to generate new value not just in energy but across various social and industrial infrastructures. We are dedicated to helping build a smarter, more adaptable, and more sustainable society through this effort,” said Soichi Hamamoto, Executive Officer (Associate), Group President, Energy & Industrial Systems, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
