GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Dec. 18, 2025 — SKF has taken a major stride toward its 2030 goal of decarbonized operations, with six more of its global manufacturing sites now certified as decarbonized. The newly recognized factories are located in Nilai, Malaysia; Puebla, Mexico; Haridwar and Pune, India; Massa, Italy; and Ladson, USA.

To earn the decarbonized designation, a factory must show a 95% cut in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its 2019 baseline, have a definitive strategy for tackling residual greenhouse gases, and demonstrate ongoing enhancements in energy efficiency.

“The addition of six more decarbonized factories is a milestone we are proud of, marking significant progress on our path to net-zero. Lowering the carbon footprint of our products helps our customers create sustainable solutions and aids society’s shift toward a greener future,” stated Sofie Runius Cederberg, Head of Sustainability.

Primary accomplishments at these sites involve switching to renewable power sources and eliminating heating systems that rely on fossil fuels. The facilities have also invested in energy-saving technologies like heat pumps and sophisticated chillers, with verified energy reductions maintained even as production output has risen.

“Tackling climate change is a worldwide imperative, and this success demonstrates our dedication to both environmental action and operational superiority. Our investments in renewables, efficiency, and new technologies also bolster our resilience by reducing overall energy needs,” commented Susanne Larsson, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP Finance.

These six sites follow the earlier decarbonized facilities in Steyr, Austria; Tudela, Spain; and Gothenburg, Sweden. Together, these nine plants account for nearly 20% of SKF’s baseline manufacturing emissions. The company’s climate goals, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), are founded on current climate science. This progress confirms SKF is advancing as planned to meet its SBTi-approved 2030 target for decarbonized operations.
