Trade association honors exceptional residential and light commercial projects utilizing SIP construction to create a superior building envelope

TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 28, 2026 — The announced the 2026 Building Excellence Awards winners at its annual meeting in Tempe, Arizona, held January 26–28. The trade association’s offsite construction award program honors outstanding residential and light commercial projects that demonstrate the energy-efficient performance, design flexibility, and resilience linked to . To comply with today’s increasingly stringent building and energy codes across all climate zones, more industry professionals are selecting SIPs to create a nearly airtight building envelope that prioritizes the comfort, health, and safety of homeowners or future building occupants.

The Building Excellence Awards provides SIP builders, designers, and manufacturers a chance to highlight projects completed the previous year. For eligibility, SIPs must cover at least 50% of the building envelope—measured by the square footage of exterior walls and the roof. This year, judges evaluated each project on its creative application of SIP construction, overall design and structural engineering innovation, energy efficiency (quantified via HERS® Index scores and other data), and dedication to environmental sustainability.

The Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization founded in 1990, focused on expanding the use and acceptance of structural insulated panels (SIPs) for sustainable construction. We offer an industry platform for promotion, communication, education, quality assurance, and technical and marketing research. SIPs are a high-performance, panelized building system delivering superior thermal performance, airtightness, and durability for energy-efficient, healthy, and resilient homes and commercial buildings.

Innovative builders and design professionals looking to lower energy use and reduce their buildings’ carbon footprints use SIPs as a cost-effective solution for exterior wall and roof systems. SIPs also reduce framing time, cut construction waste significantly, and ensure better jobsite quality control through off-site manufacturing. SIPs are an enabling technology to meet the Architecture 2030 Challenge for net-zero, carbon-neutral buildings todayLearn more at .
