At least 10 killed in mass shooting at Hanukkah celebration on Australia’s Bondi Beach

Authorities report that a mass shooting during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in on Sunday resulted in at least 10 deaths and 11 injuries.

The New South Wales Police Force confirmed via X that ten people were killed in the incident, including one suspected gunman. The second alleged shooter remains in critical condition.

The agency confirmed that at least 11 others were injured, two of whom were police officers.

acknowledged the attack while addressing a Jerusalem event that honored immigrants’ extraordinary achievements on Sunday.

“Right now, our brothers and sisters in Sydney, Australia, have been attacked by evil terrorists in a very cruel assault on Jews who came to light the first Chanukah candle at Bondi Beach,” Herzog said. “Our hearts go out to them. The heart of the whole nation of Israel skips a beat at this moment, as we pray for the wounded to recover, we pray for them and we pray for those who have died.”

Herzog also urged the Australian government to “take action and combat the enormous plaguing Australian society.”
