After a period exceeding two years, 20 Israeli hostages who had been freed were reunited with their families on Monday. Many have expressed gratitude to President and his administration for their instrumental role in orchestrating these eagerly awaited reunions.
Noa Argamani, who was abducted by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, alongside her partner, Avinatan Or, expressed immense joy upon being reunited with “the love of my life.”
“Two years have passed since the last time I saw Avinatan, the love of my life. Two years since the moment , placed me on a motorcycle, tearing me away from Avinatan for the entire world to witness,” Argamani recounted. “I was held captive by Hamas for 246 days, while Avinatan was held for 738 days. I returned through a heroic rescue operation, and Avinatan came back as part of a deal. But both of us, against all odds, made it home and were reunited!”
“I cannot articulate the profound range of emotions I experienced when I saw him for the first time after such a prolonged separation. Each of us faced death countless times, yet, after two years apart, we are finally taking our initial steps together again in the State of Israel,” she added.
In her post on X, she commended the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for their fighting and for risking their lives to save the hostages. She also thanked the U.S. government, which she noted “opened its doors to me and was always there to listen,” and specifically acknowledged White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Trump, whom she described as “exceptional.”
Lishay Miran-Lavi also credited Trump and his team for their efforts in reuniting her family. Her husband, Omri Miran, was taken captive on October 7, 2023, from the safe room in their home, an event witnessed by her and their two daughters, Roni and Alma. At the time of Omri’s abduction, his daughter Alma was merely six months old and had only known his face from hostage posters.
“Roni and Alma ran into their father’s arms, and he heard them utter ‘daddy’ again. That moment fulfilled the promise I made on October 7, and brought a healing that words cannot describe,” Miran-Lavi wrote on X.
“Thank you to President [Donald Trump] and the entire for their unwavering efforts to bring Omri and the other hostages home. From the outset, you made our cause your mission, stood with the families, and never gave up,” Miran-Lavi wrote. “To [Steve Witkoff], the President’s Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs, and to [Jared Kushner], thank you for your dedication, compassion, and persistence throughout every stage of this journey.”
Miran-Lavi further thanked Secretary of State for his “conviction and diplomatic skill, for ensuring the hostages and their families remained a priority and for leading with strength and humanity.”
Additionally, she acknowledged the efforts of the senior members of the administration who were “available to us around the clock” and ensured that the White House doors were open to the hostages’ families “at all times.”
“Their determination and dedication led us to this much-anticipated moment.”
Several relatives of hostages also extended their gratitude to Trump and his administration during a news conference on Tuesday. These included Viki Cohen, mother of Nimrod Cohen; Anat Angrest, mother of Matan Angrest; Iair Horn, a captivity survivor and brother of Eitan Horn; and Dani Miran, father of Omri Miran.
At a separate news conference held at another medical center in Israel, Macabit Mayer — the aunt of Gali and Ziv Berman — their brother, Liran Berman, and Miri Ben Ami, the mother of Yosef Chaim Ohana, all expressed their thanks to Trump.
On Monday, mere hours after the hostages were set free, Trump addressed Israel’s parliament, known as the Knesset.
“This week, against all odds, we have accomplished the impossible and brought our hostages home,” Trump stated.
During his presidential campaign last year, Trump pledged to secure the hostages’ return and . Over the initial ten months of his presidency, Israel witnessed multiple rounds of hostage releases, culminating in Monday’s release of the final 20 living hostages.
