Per a naturalization decree, the couple and their 8-year-old twins—Ella and Alexander—have been granted citizenship.
In October, the Oscar-winning actor and director noted that he and his wife have been residing in France with their kids after relocating the family to escape Hollywood’s culture.
In a chat with Esquire, 64-year-old Clooney opened up about his life in France and shared the reason behind moving his family to the countryside.
“You know, we live on a . A big part of my childhood was spent on a farm, and as a kid I couldn’t stand the whole thing. But now, for them—it’s like, they aren’t glued to their iPads, right? They eat dinner with adults and have to clear their plates. Their life is way better.”
“I was concerned about bringing up our kids in L.A., within that culture. I thought they’d never get a fair shot at life,” he added.
Aside from their family home in France, George is said to own an estate in England, a villa on Italy’s Lake Como, and another property close to his relatives in Kentucky, per People.

In his Esquire interview, Clooney discussed living in France, far from Hollywood’s glitz.
“France—they pretty much don’t care about fame,” he stated. “I don’t want them walking around stressing about paparazzi. I don’t want them to be compared to other famous people’s kids.”
