Trump Says Zelenskyy Has Yet to Read Peace Plan

President stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not yet reviewed the revised peace proposal to halt the war with Russia, as multiple rounds of discussions between U.S. and Ukrainian representatives take place in Miami.

“I’m somewhat disappointed that he still hasn’t reviewed the proposal, as of a few hours ago,” Trump informed reporters at the Kennedy Center on Sunday. “His team approves of it, but he hasn’t read it.”

“Russia, I suppose, would prefer to control the entire country, but I believe Russia accepts the proposal; however, I’m uncertain whether Zelenskyy accepts it,” Trump added.

Zelenskyy stated on Saturday that he participated in a “lengthy and substantial telephone discussion” with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, during which the three addressed numerous issues, such as ending Russia’s war and preventing future Moscow aggression.

The Ukrainian leader indicated he was awaiting an in-person briefing from his negotiation team members on the most recent discussions.

Rustem Umerov, the head of the Ukrainian delegation and secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said Monday that he and Ukraine’s military chief of general staff, General Andriy Hnatov, would brief Zelenskyy on the latest developments, including the takeaways from Witkoff and Kushner regarding President Vladimir Putin.

Putin arrived last week for a state visit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and spoke with the India Today news channel, stating that negotiations with the Americans were lengthy but fruitful.

“At times we said, yes, we can discuss this, but on that point we cannot reach agreement,” Putin said, according to a Kremlin-released transcript.

The Russian leader maintained his maximalist positions in the interview, contending that the war will only conclude if his country captures Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region or if Ukrainian forces pull back.

Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet European leaders in London on Monday to discuss the plan. His visit coincides with a fresh wave of Russian drone and missile attacks aimed at Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy stated that in just the past week, Russia has deployed over 1,600 drones, approximately 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and close to 70 missiles of various kinds against Ukraine.
