On October 28, 2021, Google officially made its two new flagship-level Android smartphones, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, available to key markets in the United States and Europe.
These two handsets are the latest iteration to this popular line and they come with the newest version of Google’s mobile operating system and interface as well as relevant imaging software updates that we can expect to see on future Android smartphones.
Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro
Both models will feature the new Tensor processor by Google as well as a 50 MegaPixel main camera and an ultra-wide camera. The Pro model – which is physically larger – has a telephoto camera, as well as an improved selfie shooter with a wider lens and higher-resolution smartphone camera sensor.
I’m not sure if these models will see official release here in the Philippines but for those who are interested and for my readers who are based in the US and in Europe, here’s a table that I made to compare and contrast the key technical specifications and prices of both models.

There are a number of exceptional features that are coming to these smartphones, with many all set to make these models the best to have ever been created within the series and potentially challenging other smartphone devices that are within the same price bracket.
Sub-6 5G Support
Perhaps one of the stand-out features available on the Pixel 6 series is their sub-6 5G internet connectivity support. This means the smartphones will let you enjoy faster data speeds than those that are only able to handle 4G internet or even just mmWave 5G connection.
With Sub-6 GHz 5G, you can enjoy a lag-free movie-viewing experience even on 4K and have smoother gameplay when running popular titles like MLBB, Fortnite, PUBG, or even casino-games such as Roulette. You can even play Monopoly live as well as other games that require a lot of bandwidth with notable ease.
Improved Battery Life
In addition to letting you enjoy ultra-fast internet connectivity, the Google Pixel 6 Series also offers long battery life – up to a whole day coming from a full charge – even when using 5G technology.
The Pixel 6 model has a 4,614-mAh battery that supports fast charging via USB Type C cable that’s sold separately. The Pixel 6 Pro has an even bigger battery complementing its larger display and this pack can be charged even faster both via wired and wireless charging.
New Tensor Processor
Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are powered by the all-new Tensor mobile processor. This powerhouse chipset – which has been designed by Google – doesn’t only enable a stutter-free overall mobile experience but also more efficiently handles a variety of tasks, such as more accurate voice recognition as well as imaging effects like removing blur from images and erasing people from shots that are not wanted in the background.
Furthermore, Google also shared that apart from being competitive with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors in terms of performance, the Tensor processor also enables new features like Motion Mode, more accurate face detection as well as live translations that can instantly convert text to a different language as you type.
Google Pixel 6 Series comes with useful camera software updates
Google had previously revealed that it had been working on making its cameras and photo processing better for people who have darker skin tone and at the Pixel 6 Fall Launch event, they managed to show these stellar enhancements.
The company’s Real Tone technology, which will work both in its camera app and third-party ones, has been designed to accurately depict the skin tone of the subject. This effectively addresses one of the weaknesses of competing flagship-level cameraphone models when taking photos and videos of people.
Price makes Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro very competitive
The base variant of Google Pixel 6 sells for $599 while the Google Pixel 6 Pro comes with a higher starting price point of $899. Obviously, the price range of this series is competitive considering the price tags of smartphones with similar specs that are already out in the market.
