Automa, a Brazilian technology firm specializing in power sector operational efficiency, has established a European presence. The company opened a Portuguese office this November and will provide solutions for five solar power plants in France and Poland in 2024.
PORTO, Portugal, Dec. 9, 2024 — Automa, a technology and software provider enhancing electricity sector operations, is expanding into Europe. The company’s new Portuguese base, opened this November, will serve renewable energy producers and distributors across Europe. Five new photovoltaic plants incorporating Automa’s technology are slated for operation in 2024: four in France and one in Poland.
This European expansion follows significant growth within Brazil’s energy market, where Automa serves major energy companies. The company has achieved over 40% annual growth across all operations (hydro, wind, solar, energy storage, and substations) in the last three years. “Our aim is to surpass current Brazilian revenue with international earnings within four years,” stated Marcelo Ferreira, Automa’s CEO and founder. In Brazil, Automa manages 25% of the nation’s renewable energy generation (40 GW).
Automa’s operational team is now based in Porto, Portugal. A new commercial office in Madrid, Spain, headed by Giorgio Inforzato, a 15-year veteran of the European renewable energy sector, will open in 2025.
Automa’s European operations coincide with the launch of its first regional projects. The company is delivering solutions for monitoring and operating solar plants in France and Poland, all owned by EDP Renewables.
“Successfully navigating the approval processes of leading European companies is a significant endorsement of Automa’s commitment to delivering top-tier products and services, recognized by the world’s most demanding renewable energy firms,” explained Marcelo Ferreira.
In its 18 years of operation, Automa has become a leader in automation technologies, offering solutions like SCADA, Automatic Maneuver Control, Power Limitation Optimizer, Turnkey Automation, Power Plant Controller, and SunOp. These technologies have boosted energy generation for clients by up to 5%. Automa has delivered over 1,000 projects, 50 operations centers, and more than 200 substations equipped with its technology.
