ab62f300656f785f834030a06f8ae62e BlueNord: Invitation Received to Explore an Extension of the DUC License

OSLO, Norway, Feb. 22, 2026 — Reference is made to today’s announcement by the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, which invites BlueNord ASA (“BlueNord” or the “Company”) and its partners in the Danish Underground Consortium (the “DUC”) to explore extending the DUC license beyond its current expiration in 2042.

BlueNord has had a constructive dialogue with the Danish government, showing interest in extending the current license to 2050 in line with the 2020 North Sea Agreement. The Company welcomes today’s announcement.

Extending the license would be completely in line with BlueNord’s long – standing goals: getting the most value from the DUC, meeting the future energy needs of Denmark and Europe, and continuing to make a significant contribution to Danish society.

“We’re glad about today’s announcement and are looking forward to continuing our talks with the Danish government on how BlueNord, along with our DUC partners, can keep supplying essential oil and gas volumes to Denmark and the EU after the current DUC license expires in 2042. Our goal is still to maximize the value from the DUC – not just for our shareholders, but for Danish society and the wider European energy market. An extension to 2050 would help reduce Europe’s reliance on imported energy and strengthen the security of supply. Danish North Sea production is of real strategic importance: it has a lower CO₂ footprint than imported LNG, contributes a lot to the Danish economy through state revenues and employment, and directly helps safeguard EU energy security,” said Euan Shirlaw, Chief Executive Officer in BlueNord ASA.
