RECORD BREAKER: A Community Plunge in Support of Youth Mental Health
TORONTO, Dec. 30, 2025 – This Thursday, January 1, 2026, thousands of Toronto residents will gather at Woodbine Beach to begin the new year with intention, fortitude, and camaraderie at RECORD BREAKER. This free, donation-driven community cold plunge event aims to support youth mental health.
Organized by Unbounded alongside Dryrobe, Therme Canada, and premier local wellness brands, RECORD BREAKER brings the city together for a major annual wellness occasion. The event merges cold therapy, breathwork, physical activity, and community spirit to create a memorable New Year’s Day experience, all benefiting Jack.org, Canada’s foremost youth mental health charity.
Under the guidance of expert cold exposure facilitators, attendees will have the opportunity to safely enter Lake Ontario. This practice is backed by science for its ability to lower stress, enhance mood, strengthen immunity, heighten alertness, and develop mental toughness. RECORD BREAKER welcomes everyone, from first-timers to experienced enthusiasts, meeting participants at their level to push personal boundaries and cultivate shared empowerment.
“RECORD BREAKER goes beyond the cold plunge,” states Nick McNaught, Co-Founder of Unbounded. “It’s centered on community, mutual bravery, and launching the year from a place of resilience, all while contributing to national youth mental health support.”
In addition to Unbounded, lead sponsors Dryrobe and Therme Canada are joined by wellness partners City Shred, Impact Kitchen, Othership, RCVRI, and NuLove, all helping to create the event’s welcoming and vibrant environment.
The benefits of cold water immersion for both mind and body are well-documented. Studies indicate it can aid in nervous system regulation, lessen anxiety, sharpen focus, stimulate white blood cell generation, and bolster self-discipline via managed stress adaptation.
Taking part in RECORD BREAKER is free of charge, with voluntary donations accepted for Jack.org and its youth mental health programs nationwide. Onlookers are also welcome to join, support the plungers, and participate in the festivities.
