HONG KONG, Nov. 23, 2024 — China Telecom Gulf officially opened in Riyadh on November 21. This launch significantly advances China Telecom’s commitment to the “Belt and Road Initiative” and fostering a “China-Arab Community with a Shared Future,” representing a key step in its global expansion. Mr. Liu Guiqing, Executive Director and EVP of China Telecom Corporation, and Mr. Fawaz, Representative of the Contact Office of Chinese Companies in the KSA and Deputy General Manager of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Riyadh Branch, addressed attendees. Over 100 guests, including representatives from the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the PRC in the KSA, Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Bank of China, and Huawei, were present.
Mr. Liu Guiqing highlighted China Telecom’s dedication to open collaboration and mutual benefit, offering expertise in cloud-network integration, cloud transformation, intelligent operations, and technological innovation. China Telecom intends to actively contribute to Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure development and next-generation information technology advancement, building stronger China-Saudi Arabia IT cooperation. The company will utilize its global capabilities in 5G, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to deliver high-quality services to Saudi businesses and consumers.
Mr. Fawaz congratulated China Telecom Gulf on its launch, emphasizing China Telecom’s substantial cloud-network resources and international experience. He viewed the launch as crucial support for regional digital transformation and expressed confidence in its contribution to Saudi Arabia’s economic growth and Sino-Saudi Arabia cooperation.
China Telecom showcased its global reach, including investments and partnerships in the Middle East and Africa, highlighting services such as eSurfing Cloud, computing solutions, quantum technology, and customized 5G networks. China Telecom’s global network includes branches in 42 countries and regions, 53 international submarine cables, and 27 self-operated Internet Data Centers (IDCs).
Strategic cooperation agreements were signed with Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Huawei Saudi Arabia, and Baud Telecom Company, committing to collaborative efforts to enhance digital experiences for Saudi customers.
China Telecom’s Saudi Arabia launch marks a significant step in its Middle Eastern market entry and global strategy. China Telecom Gulf will collaborate with Saudi and international businesses to foster cooperation and contribute to Sino-Saudi Arabia and Middle Eastern industrial growth, providing innovative digital solutions and aiming for global leadership in digital and intelligent technology services.
