(SeaPRwire) – Bespoke Aurora suites offer luxury, premium passenger comfort, and intelligent cabin integration
HAMBURG, Germany, April 14, 2026 — Collins Aerospace, a business unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), and Air Canada announced today that the airline’s upcoming Airbus A321XLR fleet will be fully equipped with seating solutions from Collins. The aircraft will feature 14 premium Aurora business class suites in the front cabin, complemented by 168 Meridian+ economy seats.
Unveiled at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany, the custom lie-flat Aurora suites feature industrial design, trim, and finishes developed by Air Canada in collaboration with Collins and design partner Acumen. The suites balance privacy with social accessibility, utilizing a warm color palette and elegant lighting to highlight bespoke materials, including stone, rich wood, and bronze accents.
“Aurora is engineered to bring a widebody business class experience to single-aisle aircraft, providing the space, comfort, and privacy passengers expect on long-haul journeys,” stated Cynthia Muklevicz, vice president of Global Airlines and Lessors for Collins Aerospace. “By unifying the suites, monuments, and galley into a single architectural design, we have optimized the cabin footprint while maintaining the passenger comfort and service capabilities necessary for a premium experience.”
The unique geometry and mounting angle of the Aurora suite are tailored to the A321XLR’s dimensions, maximizing living space for passengers, allowing for an additional row of premium seating, and increasing galley capacity to support the catering requirements of long-haul flights.
“Our primary objective was to enhance the in-flight experience by crafting a space that feels highly personal and inviting,” said John Moody, managing director of On-Board Product for Air Canada. “With the Aurora suite, we are establishing a new benchmark through the sophisticated use of technology, space, and custom materials. Our focus on detail provides our customers with a true sanctuary.”
Building on Collins’ history in single-aisle seating, the Meridian+ economy seat adopts design elements from widebody aircraft, using a contoured architecture to provide extra room for passengers’ knees, hips, and elbows. The seat features an articulating diaphragm that adjusts to improve comfort, while Air Canada has opted for upgraded seatback features to enhance personal power, inflight entertainment, and storage.
The first of 30 Air Canada A321XLR aircraft is scheduled to enter service this spring. Demonstrations of the Aurora and Meridian+ products are available this week at the Aircraft Interiors Expo.
