
DRUMMONDVILLE, QC, February 4, 2025 – On January 29, 2025, staff at Drummond Institution, a medium-security federal facility, intercepted a package containing contraband.
The seized contraband included hashish, cannabis, shatter, and tobacco. The estimated institutional value of the seized items totals $97,150.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) employs various methods to prevent contraband from entering its institutions. These include ion scanners and drug-detection dogs used to search buildings, personal belongings, inmates, and visitors.
CSC is strengthening its measures to prevent contraband entry to maintain a secure environment. CSC also collaborates with law enforcement to prosecute those attempting to smuggle contraband.
CSC has established a tip line for all federal institutions to receive information about security-related matters, including drug use or trafficking that may compromise the safety of staff, inmates, and visitors.
