TAIPEI, June 6, 2025 — The Delta Electronics Foundation has announced a new partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST) to further coral restoration education. The program will integrate the Delta Electronics Foundation’s science picture book, ‘Saving Our Coral Reefs‘, into elementary school lesson plans across Taiwan. Dr. Jane Goodall, a globally recognized ecologist and conservationist, visited the Chaojing Coral Conservation Center in Keelung, a collaborative project between the Delta Foundation and NMMST. There, alongside Delta’s founder, Mr. Bruce Cheng, she planted her first corals in Taiwan, underscoring their dedication to marine conservation.

Dr. Jane Goodall commented, “All ecosystems are interconnected, from the land to the sea, and from corals to humans. I am happy to witness the proactive efforts in Taiwan to promote ocean conservation. My visit to the Chaojing Coral Conservation Center today has deepened my understanding of Delta’s international coral restoration initiatives. I trust that this collaboration, using the coral picture book and our Roots & Shoots program, will help more individuals learn about corals and the importance of marine conservation.”

Mr. Bruce Cheng, founder of Delta and Chairman of the Delta Electronics Foundation, stated, “Delta has long been dedicated to energy conservation, decarbonization, and environmental sustainability. In recent years, we’ve also concentrated on preserving biodiversity, leveraging Delta’s technological capabilities to assist researchers in coral restoration endeavors. Our project has successfully safeguarded over 40 species of Taiwanese corals and is on track to restore 10,000 coral fragments by this summer. We are honored to partner with the Jane Goodall Institute and NMMST to utilize the ‘Saving Our Coral Reefs‘ picture book as a means to raise awareness and encourage children and the public to take a greater interest in Taiwan’s oceans, focusing on the science behind coral restoration.”

At the close of 2024, Dr. Jane Goodall was invited to the launch of a coral culture facility serving as a base for coral restoration at the St. John’s Island National Marine Laboratory (SJINML), a joint undertaking by Singapore’s National Parks Board (NParks) and the Delta Foundation. This year marks a deepening of the partnership between the Jane Goodall Institute and Delta, aiming to promote coral and marine ecological awareness through the picture book and Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Program.

Saving Our Coral Reefs‘ combines real-life photographs with illustrations and scientific insights from experts involved in Delta’s coral restoration project. The book offers an accessible and thorough way to enhance readers’ understanding of coral reefs, their ecological significance, and the threats they face due to global warming. Through this collaboration, the book will be incorporated into NMMST’s coral conservation curriculum and the Jane Goodall Institute’s school outreach programs, boosting public awareness and fostering broader participation in marine conservation. Looking ahead, the three parties intend to continue exploring innovative approaches that integrate technology, education, and nature conservation to advance the sustainable development of marine ecosystems.
