NEW YORK, Feb. 24, 2026 — disAMR, a new entity established by Mark Bamforth OBE and Dr. Richard Snyder, who previously developed Brammer Bio and have supported innovators in the AMR sector, along with science agency That’s Nice LLC, announced today the acquisition of AMR Insights. AMR Insights is a media and global networking communications platform founded in Amsterdam in 2016, dedicated to addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

disAMR, pronounced “disarm” to reflect its commitment to combating the threat of AMR, will function as a central point for AMR communication, education, and advocacy. Its mission includes linking stakeholders, fostering innovation, influencing policy, and backing the development of sustainable antimicrobial products. With governments re-evaluating antibiotic incentive structures and global health funding still limited, disAMR seeks to redefine the discourse and financial landscape around antimicrobial product innovation.

“As long-term participants in the life sciences sector, we felt a strong obligation to engage with the AMR challenge,” stated Mark Bamforth OBE, disAMR’s Chief Executive Officer. “This is an existential public health crisis, widely acknowledged but insufficiently funded due to market deficiencies, despite innovative solutions being developed globally. We established disAMR to raise awareness of the worldwide AMR health crisis and the pioneering scientific work and products underway, and to motivate organizations to participate by backing innovation, providing funding, and acting to enhance market conditions to effectively combat this lethal issue.”

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) stands as a primary global public health danger. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in 2019, bacterial AMR directly caused 1.27 million fatalities and played a role in 4.95 million deaths.1 If left unaddressed, projections indicate that by 2050, AMR could be directly responsible for almost 2 million deaths annually, with over 8 million deaths associated with it.2 AMR represents a global crisis, impacting healthcare systems, economies, and populations across all borders.

disAMR has completed the acquisition of AMR Insights, an entity founded in 2016 by microbiologist Dr. Maarten van Dongen. disAMR intends to build upon AMR Insights’ foundation by transferring its extensive collection of educational and informative AMR materials to a new multichannel platform. This platform will prioritize supporting businesses while also continuing to connect and assist the worldwide community dedicated to addressing AMR through various approaches.

“After encountering Maarten at a 2025 conference, I was highly impressed by his achievements. He was prepared to transition leadership, and we recognized this as the ideal opportunity we sought—to establish a comprehensive platform for a sector requiring immediate intervention,” commented Dr. Richard Snyder, disAMR’s Chief Scientific Officer. He continued, “While excellent work is being done globally, it remains fragmented, funding is challenging to secure, and a stigma associated with infection has hindered efforts to combat AMR. disAMR will function as a core hub for communication, cooperation, and synchronized initiatives, thereby enhancing visibility, generating momentum, and instilling fresh optimism within the AMR domain.”

“Having spent almost a decade developing AMR Insights into a globally recognized media and networking platform for AMR, my goal was to ensure its mission would broaden rather than diminish. With Mark, Richard, and That’s Nice, I am confident that the platform will expand its reach, influence, and overall impact,” stated Dr. Maarten van Dongen, founder of AMR Insights. He added, “Upon meeting Richard and Mark, and subsequently the team at That’s Nice, I was pleased to have discovered the right individuals not only to sustain this endeavor but to elevate it to the next stage.”

That’s Nice contributes thirty years of experience in life sciences branding, communications, and ecosystem development, enabling disAMR to quickly enhance its visibility and engagement with stakeholders. The agency is responsible for establishing and managing Pharma’s Almanac, a publishing platform and thought leadership community. That’s Nice is collaborating with Mr. Bamforth and Dr. Snyder to apply its distinct expertise and background to disAMR and the broader AMR sector.

“It has been a privilege to collaborate with Mark across three companies he has established, and similarly with Richard, including their period developing Brammer Bio into one of the most esteemed organizations in the life sciences industry,” remarked Nigel Walker, founder of That’s Nice LLC and disAMR’s Chief Commercial Officer. He continued, “We are thrilled to partner with them in establishing disAMR, leveraging our platform expertise and experience gained from Pharma’s Almanac to contribute to this critically significant domain.”
