A new checkout program allows for donations that could potentially generate millions for non – profit and industry partners working to repair the damages caused by cannabis criminalization

BOSTON, Feb. 5, 2026 — Dutchie, the leading technology platform driving cannabis retail, announced today the launch of Round Up the Change, a new checkout feature that enables dispensary customers to round up their purchase total to support non – profit organizations and industry associations working towards cannabis justice reform and legalization.

The program is launched in partnership with non – profits Mission Green and Last Prisoner Project, along with industry associations such as the US Cannabis Roundtable and the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association. Together, these partners focus on legalization, expungement, sentencing reform, and dealing with the long – term consequences of cannabis criminalization.

Participating retailers can activate the feature for both in – store and e – commerce transactions, offering customers an easy and voluntary way to contribute at the point of sale.

“This industry was founded on grassroots activism and the power of the people,” said Chris Ostrowski, CTO of Dutchie. “Round Up the Change respects that heritage by transforming the checkout experience into a vehicle for advocacy, enabling our community to jointly further the mission.”

With over one million transactions processed daily across the Dutchie platform, even small round – ups can accumulate rapidly. Dutchie estimates that the program could generate millions of dollars annually to support legal advocacy, clemency initiatives, and reentry programs.

Several leading retailers have already signed up as launch partners for Round Up the Change, seeing the program as a natural extension of cannabis culture and customer engagement.

“For us, this is more than just adding another donation prompt. It’s about respecting the history of this industry,” said Raymond Abro, COO of JARS Cannabis. “Our customers recognize that it’s a privilege to legally purchase cannabis, and this gives them a straightforward way to support those who have been incarcerated or affected by cannabis criminalization.”

“We’re proud to be part of the first group to adopt a campaign so closely in line with our values,” said Sam Brill, CEO of Ascend Wellness Holdings. “Co – Lab, our dedicated Social Equity program, is designed to have a tangible, community – level impact and help address the long – lasting harms of prohibition. Round Up the Change gives customers a simple and meaningful way to take part in that effort while still having a smooth shopping experience.”

For decades, cannabis prohibition has disproportionately affected communities through over – policing, incarceration, and long – term economic impacts. Even as legalization spreads, many individuals still face obstacles in employment, housing, and opportunities due to past cannabis convictions.

“Legalization without repair is incomplete,” said Weldon Angelos, founder of Mission Green. “Round Up the Change helps bridge that gap by creating a reliable source of funding to support clemency and restorative justice initiatives, promote legislative reform, and assist those still imprisoned for cannabis offenses—moving us towards a future where cannabis is not only legal but justice is fully achieved.”

“Thousands of people are still suffering the consequences of cannabis convictions in a legal industry they helped build,” said Stephanie Shepard, Executive Director of Last Prisoner Project. “Round Up the Change gives consumers and retailers a practical way to support cannabis reform every time they visit a dispensary, helping to ensure that legalization is accompanied by real accountability and repair.”

“Advocates need continuous funding and support to achieve lasting cannabis reform,” said Saphira Galoob, CEO of the US Cannabis Roundtable. “We believe consumers will be motivated to contribute through Round Up the Change to support the reform efforts taking place in Washington.”

Round Up the Change is now available to eligible Dutchie retailers across the nation. Retailers interested in requesting additional non – profit partners can contact their Dutchie representative for more details.
