GANZHOU, China, Oct. 2, 2024 — On September 29, JMEV and Farasis Energy entered into a strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of solid-state batteries. Concurrently, the first SPS (Super Pouch Solution) battery for the ‘ELIGHT’ model commenced production.
The agreement signifies a joint commitment to advancing research, production, and market adoption of solid-state batteries. This collaborative effort aims to accelerate the development of key technologies for solid-state batteries, drive industrial transformation and upgrading, and foster the maturation and commercialization of this technology.
Solid-state batteries are widely recognized as a competitive advantage in the new energy vehicle sector, boasting superior energy density, rapid charging capabilities, extended cycle life, and enhanced safety features. Farasis Energy has dedicated its expertise to electrochemical systems and pouch battery stacking processes for years, aligning perfectly with the trajectory of solid-state battery development. The company’s product development strategy emphasizes long-term R&D goals for high-energy, high-rate, high-safety, and cost-effective solid-state batteries, ensuring timely translation of research breakthroughs into practical applications.
Currently, Farasis Energy’s first-generation semi-solid batteries are being mass-produced for passenger vehicles, and the company has achieved commercial vehicle sector milestones, forming a strategic alliance with FAW Jiefang to jointly promote the market and industrial chain development of semi-solid and solid-state batteries for commercial vehicles. Farasis Energy is targeting a complete transition from semi-solid to solid-state battery commercialization within the next five years.
On the same day, the inaugural SPS battery system from Farasis Energy, specifically designed for the “ELIGHT” model, rolled off the production line. This follows previous deliveries to Geely Radar Horizon and GAC Second-Gen Aion V models. The introduction of the “ELIGHT” model’s SPS battery aims to support JMEV in upgrading its pure electric platform, creating a groundbreaking sports sedan that delivers an enhanced travel experience.
Key features of Farasis Energy’s SPS include:
- A 10-minute charge for a 400-kilometer range
- Compatibility with chassis heights ranging from 85mm to 145mm
- A volume utilization rate of up to 75%
- Full chemical system compatibility, encompassing sodium ion batteries, lithium iron phosphate, and semi-solid batteries, among others.
