Taiwan’s global influence in quantum technology is highlighted during IYQ 2025

TAIPEI, Dec. 17, 2025 — Hon Hai Technology Group (“Foxconn”) (TWSE:2317) Board Director Ching-Ray Chang has been named a global Quantum 100 honoree, recognizing his extensive contributions to quantum research, education, and industry partnership. This flagship initiative is part of IYQ 2025, the UN-designated International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

Professor Chang, who also serves as Distinguished Chair Professor at Taiwan’s Chung Yuan Christian University and Quantum Technology Advisory Committee Member at the Hon Hai Research Institute, has offered strategic direction for Foxconn’s quantum technology roadmap and research focus in recent years. His work supports the company’s efforts to integrate its quantum R&D capabilities with the global ecosystem and its manufacturing capacity for ion-trap quantum computers.

The UN General Assembly declared 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics. UNESCO is leading the Quantum 100, a flagship program honoring the diverse individuals driving quantum science and technology.

Professor Chang has been instrumental in developing Taiwan’s quantum research and education framework. With over 280 published academic papers and more than 28 patents, he actively contributes to science communication and public engagement, simplifying complex quantum principles to enhance public comprehension of quantum technology.

Professor Chang formerly held the positions of Executive Vice President and Acting President at National Taiwan University (NTU), where he established the NTU-IBM Quantum Hub—now one of Asia’s most active academic quantum centers—and integrated quantum computing into NTU’s official curriculum. He created a quantum information center at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), directed national quantum training initiatives, and was a trailblazer in introducing quantum education at secondary and tertiary levels, methodically developing Taiwan’s future quantum workforce.

Professor Chang serves as Founding President of the Taiwan Association of Quantum Computing and Information Technology (TAQCIT), where he contributed to formulating Taiwan’s national quantum technology strategy and enhanced collaboration among academic, industrial, and governmental sectors. This includes the Quantum Taiwan Forum, a vital platform linking Taiwan’s semiconductor expertise with the international quantum technology landscape.
